A4 Building & Civils (Pty) Ltd was established in September 2020 by our CEO, Ashley
Petersen, with the core objective of helping people in the immediate Worcester and Breede
Valley area maintain and improve their standard of living while preserving and enhancing
their property. Headquartered in Worcester, Western Cape (65 Vicky Street, Worcester,
6850/6870), we are a dynamic, community-focused civil engineering and construction
company specialising in reliable subcontracting services. Our prime objective remains sound
customer satisfaction through high-standard work and quality workmanship.
From a small team emerging from COVID-19 lockdowns, we have grown steadily through
word-of-mouth referrals, strong client relationships, and expanding competence in
challenging projects.

Company History & Milestones

• September 2020 – December 2020 Coming out of the COVID-19 lockdown as a very
small team, we achieved a turnover just short of R100,000, laying the foundation for
our community-driven mission.

• March 2021 – February 2022 An exciting year of establishing excellent client
relations and delivering commendable work. Operating as a small team, we doubled
our turnover through satisfied clients’ word-of-mouth referrals.

• March 2021 – February 2022 (Actophambili Roads Subcontract) We subcontracted
to Actophambili Roads (Pty) Ltd on various road maintenance, rehabilitation, and
reseal projects in the Western Cape and beyond. Our contributions included
specialised civil support aligned with our expertise (e.g., earth moving, layerworks,
concrete works, and related site preparations), helping deliver durable road
outcomes for provincial and national routes.

• March 2023 – February 2024, we tackled our first major job, expanding relations to
include working alongside subcontractors. This period proved highly beneficial,
growing our team’s competence, relational skills, and capacity while continuing to
increase turnover.

• 2023 – Ongoing: Maintenance Contract at Huguenot Tunnel Continuous
civil maintenance services at this critical N1 national infrastructure asset, including structural repairs, slope stabilisation, and related works for operational safety and
continuity.

• 2025–2026: Key Subcontracts
– Subcontract at Du Toits Kloof Pass (R101) – stone pitching,
concrete works, stone walls, earth moving, and sign boards on this highprofile mountain pass upgrade/maintenance.
– Subcontract to Motheo Construction Group – security fencing at Trans hex
Substation.
– Subcontract to Roadmac Surfacing Cape – earth moving, layer works, and
concrete works on road surfacing/rehabilitation projects.
